TOBA TEK SINGH, July 8: Five members of a family were shot dead after being served intoxicated milk by two sisters at Pirmahal, about 25 kilometres from here, on Tuesday morning.

The sisters later went to the Pirmahal police station and confessed their crime.

According to reports, Abida Perveen and Kausar Perveen were kidnapped by Waryam Khan Gadhi from Madina Block, Pirmahal, a year ago. Their father Mubarak Ali Sheikh, a grocer, knocked a panchayat’s doors to get her daughters back, but Waryam refused to return the girls. Subsequently, Mubarak filed a writ petition with the Lahore High Court where both the girls were produced.

Abida disclosed in court that she had married Waryam’s son Shaukat Ali Gadhi. Her younger sister also refused to go with her parents, and the court allowed her to live with sister.

After some time, the family reportedly started torturing the sisters over petty issues. On Monday, Shaukat tortured his wife in the presence of some residents of the locality. The two sisters went to the area police station to lodge a complaint against Shaukat, but the police officer mediated between the couple.

To settle the issue once and for all, the sisters served intoxicated milk to all the members of the family. No sooner had they fell unconscious than the women shot dead Waryam, his wife Allah Wasai, son Shaukat, daughter Safia Bibi and her husband Haji Zafar Ali.

Later, they set motorcycle, furniture, clothes and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees on fire.

KILLED: Three women were killed on Tuesday in various parts of the district.

A youth, Muhammad Ismail, shot dead his aunt Tasawur Bibi on her refusal to marry her daughter with him at Kamalia.

About 35 kilometres from here at Arrouti area, a boy killed his sister over suspicion of loose morals. Police claimed to have arrested the killer.

Two brothers shot dead a woman and left a couple injured over a minor issue at Chak 295-GB, Barianwala.

Reports said Perveen Akhtar and her relative Hurmat Bibi went to Ashraf Ali and Abdul Latif’s house to complain about their children’s quarrel, and exchanged harsh words. Ashraf and Latif shot Perveen and injured Hurmat Bibi and her husband Taj Din.

Hurmat Bibi was referred to a Faisalabad hospital because of her critical condition.
