CHITTAGONG, July 8: The average price of Bangladesh teas fell on poor quality at the weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said.
“Some 1.14m kg were sold at an average price of 66.99 taka per kg, down 1.53 taka from the last sale. The withdrawal percentage was 12.37,” a market report by National Brokers Limited said.
Buyers for Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Bangladesh exporters along with loose tea traders participated in the auction.
“There was a good demand, but the offering contained inferior quality leaves, resulting drop in price,” Amanat Hossain, managing director of Purbo Bangla Brokers Limited told Reuters.
