PESHAWAR: US Consul General in Peshawar, Gabriel Escobar, has said that the role of journalists in Pakistan-United States relationship is of immense importance and can play a vital role in further bolstering relations between the two countries.

Addressing a ceremony arranged for distribution of certificates among journalists after conclusion of the day-long 'journalists safety training” seminar, organised by the US consulate general in Peshawar, the US diplomat said that journalism was a sacred profession that demanded high dedication, devotion and professional responsibility.

He said that journalists were the eyes and ears of the society as they played key role in dissemination of information for informing masses about regional and international developments and building public opinions. “We support journalists for the services they provide to people for a knowledge-based society,” he said.

The consul general said that journalists could play a pivotal role in further strengthening relationship between the two countries based on clear perceptions.
