HYDERABAD, July 6: Protest demonstrations against the disputed Thal canal project will be held in the NWFP and Balochistan with joint efforts of the component parties of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations’ Movement and Anti-Thal Canal Action Committee.

This was announced by the general-secretary of the Pukhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party, Akram Shah, at a reception hosted in his honour by Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party vice-chairman Haider Shahani at the Taraqqi Pasand House here on Friday.

Mr Shah also invited the leaders of the ATCAC and Ponam to visit Quetta and Peshawar for launching a joint struggle against the project.

Earlier, Mr Shah and Mr Shahani, held a discussion  on the adverse effects of the Thal canal on the economy of Sindh.

They agreed that Sindh had the first right over waters of the River Indus but it would be converted into a desert if the Thal canal was constructed.

The PMAP and STPP leaders demanded that interests of all the nations should be protected and the federating units be given equal rights.

COMPLAINT CENTRE: The chairman, Anti-Corruption Enquiries and Evaluation, Sindh, Mukhtar Ahmad, has said a complaint centre is being established at the anti-corruption headquarters in Karachi to make the department more effective and provide easy access to the people.
