US fears attack in Germany

BERLIN, Dec 15: A US intelligence agency has warned the German federal crime bureau, BKA, that an attack by terrorists in Germany “is imminent”, a news magazine reported on Saturday.

The attack could take place after the holy month of Ramazan, which ends this week-end, the German news magazine ‘Focus’ reported, quoting from a BKA telex message to the chancellor’s office in Berlin.

Asked on Saturday, the BKA said that information had been received from a foreign agency indicating a heightened danger of attacks in Germany.

The report by Focus said US intelligence had warned of a terrorist cell consisting of three men. It quoted the BKA telex as saying Germany’s public urban transport could be a target.—dpa
