KARACHI: Punjab Colours and Army completed the semi-final quartet in the 28th National Women’s Hockey Championship by completing their fixtures at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium on Monday.

Defending champions Wapda and former champions Railways have already topped pool A and B respectively.

Punjab Colours scored a solitary goal victory over Higher Education Commission (HEC) that earned them a place in the last four. Mariam Mansha scored the all-important goal off penalty corner in the 13th minute.

Formidable Army punished Sindh Whites 16-0 with half of the total goals coming in the first half.

Captain Shahida and Ayesha Rafiq slammed four goals apiece. They were followed by Shamshad Bashir, Sahil Malik and Afshan Noreen who scored two goals each while Taskin and Iqra Javed added one each for winners who show no mercy to their opponents.

Holders Wapda routed Sindh Colours 11-0 in their last group fixture to top pool A by staying unbeaten. The winners led 7-0 at breather.

Ayesha Bashir top scored with three goals. Nazia Rehmat and Kulsoom contributed two goals apiece while Amna Mir, Ishrat Abbas, Maria Sabir and Ambreen Ahmed netted once.

Railways brushed aside Punjab Whites 5-0 to top pool B as their match was brought forward by a day. Nimra Abdul Khaliq shone with his performance slamming four goals while Shukria Rasheed completed the tally.

The league matches completes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the organisers have again revised the draws by brought forwarding the final on Thursday in view of death anniversary of Z. A. Bhutto that falls on April 4 (Friday).

The two semi-finals will now be played on Wednesday instead of rest day while the playoff for third position and final takes place the following day.
