KARACHI, July 4: Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the Anti-Terrorism Court No 5 put off the hearing of constable murder case as the court prosecutor resigned.

Kashif Aziz alias Kashif Mota and Mohammed Zahir are being prosecuted for killing PC Mehboob Ali and injuring Sub-Inspector, Abdur Rauf and Head Constable, Mohammed Rafique, on January 13, this year, in the compound of Saudabad police station.

The judge fixed Tuesday for the next hearing after special public prosecutor, Syed Nadeem Hussain Shah, informed him that he was no longer available as prosecutor.

Mr Nadeem has been appointed special public prosecutor for an accountability court to proceed with the corruption cases.

Earlier, defence counsel Khawaja Sharful Islam gave up two defence witnesses. He had cited the area Nazim and his father as DWs.

According to prosecution, five suspects were spotted by a Saudabad police party in a stolen car (AAB-588). The police party intercepted them and brought the suspects and their car to the police station.

As the suspects got down of the car one of them hurled a fire cracker on the police officials. Then the suspects snatched an SMG from a constable and opened fire killing PC Mehboob instantly and injuring two other policemen.

The five suspects then fled the scene. On April 3, the Orangi police arrested Kashif and Zahir.
