KARACHI, July 4: The Director General (Operations) South, PTCL, has requested telephone subscribers to use code-barring facility to avoid misuse of their telephone connections and excessive billing.

In a statement, Mr Waseem said that an analysis of complaints lodged by subscribers showed that the customer’s children, servants and guests use their telephones and the bills thus sent were not fake.

By using the secret code facility, he said, the customers would be able to avoid misuse of their sets and save excessive billing.

He pointed out that various TV channels and companies asked people to dial numbers starting with 0900 to win quiz programmes and lotteries.

He elaborated that the PTCL customers were charged different rates plus taxes when the numbers with prefix 0900 are dialled. —APP
