KARACHI, July 4: Parents of affected students of the Sindh Medical College (SMC), on Friday appealed to Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar to use their discretionary powers to resolve the matter confronting the students.
In a faxed letter to governor and CM, Parents’ Action Committee said their sons and daughters had been studying at the SMC for last five years and when they were about to get their degrees, they were disallowed to appear in the final exams.
The parents said on one hand, the students were compelled to stage hunger strike and on the other, no action has been taken so far against the corrupt officials of the SMC and Karachi University.
Criticizing the double standards of the college and varsity administrations, they said, the students who got admissions on CM quota were allowed to continue their studies, while their sons and daughters’ admissions were being cancelled.
They appealed to the higher authorities to look into the matter and allow the affected students to continue their studies.—PPI
