RPP case: Accountability court summons all nominated persons

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court issued its summons on Monday to all nominated persons in the next hearing of the rental power projects case, DawnNews reported.

Accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the Rental Power reference case during which former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf’s lawyer Amjad Iqbal appeared before the court.

The court did not proceed with indictment of the accused due to their absence.

Subsequently, the court ordered the suspects’ to appear in the next hearing of the case which was adjourned until April 9.

Ashraf is accused of misusing his authority in capacity as water and power minister (from March 2008 to February 2011) and awarding the project to some parties in violation of procurement rules.

NAB has been investigating 12 RPPs cases in which nine firms reportedly received more than Rs22 billion as mobilisation advance from the government to commission the projects, but most of them were accused of failing to set up plants.

The bureau has already recovered Rs13 billion in the case.

Due to this scam entire nation is suffering from slow economic growth and energy crisis. There are few corruption cases where the greed have light impact on over all country. But this scam has resulted in creating grave dangers for our economy. All thanks to few politicians who misused their powers. I wish we would mark these people as traitors and hold them accountable for High Treason against motherland.

Before Civilian PM and founder of PPP Bhutto appeared in the Court and faced capital punishment. Then Civilian PM Gilani attended the court hearings and faced conviction resulting loosing his Premiership. Now if ex Civilian Prime Minister Parwez Ashraf could be indicted and could appear before the Courts again and again then why not Parwez Musharraf the last dictator? He making mockery of the law of the land, and by hiding under protection of Army Outlet for so long is still believing the Supreme Laws and Courts of the land under his boots, like many others. Army Officers protecting him been invoking anger by the millions of law abiding Pakistanis within the Country and abroad and been doing great dis-service to their institution? They too will be judged by the observing historians not lesser betrayer of the Nation and of the laws of the land than the real offender?
