ISLAMABAD, July 2: The two liaison officers and three drivers of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) have been given Indian visas required for operating ‘Dosti Bus’ service between the two countries.

The bus service will resume in the next couple of weeks. The sources in the tourism ministry told Dawn that Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali had been requested to formally inaugurate the resumption of bus service which would mark the opening of land route between Pakistan and India after almost one-and-a-half years.

The sources said the two liaison officers — Arshad Ali and Mr Joseph — and three drivers — Qazi Ayub, Amir Khan and Inayatullah — had been granted the required visas for the bus service which would operate between Lahore and New Delhi.

The resumption of the ‘Dosti Bus’ service will also mark the opening of the direct link between the two countries since they snapped diplomatic ties.
