JHANG: Ruling party candidate Muhammad Khan Baloch has won the PP-81 by-election, defeating his nearest rival PTI's Rai Tamoor Bhatti by a margin of 6,289 votes.

According to unofficial results, Mr Baloch polled 51,298 against 45,009 votes secured by his rival. The election was held in a peaceful manner and no untoward incident was reported from any polling station of the constituency.

The turnout was low till midday due to bad weather but it picked up in the afternoon and total turnout at the end of polling stood at reasonable 55 to 57pc. The seat was vacated by PML- N MPA Iftikhar Ahmad Khan Baloch over a fake degree.
