LAHORE, June 29: Wapda would take a decision on Monday on whether it should discuss the matter with national hockey team manager Shahnaz Sheikh about two of their players involved in disciplinary case.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), through a letter has asked Wapda to sort out the issue by discussing it with Shahnaz.

Wapda had alleged their players Sohail Abbas and Waseem Ahmad had went to play in professional league in Germany after being instigated by national team manager Shahnaz.

Both the national players face an inquiry and a possible

disciplinary action by the PHF as they went abroad without getting the approval from the governing body of the sport.

Wapda Sports Control Board secretary Khalid Mahmood while refusing to comment on the matter told journalists a meeting had been called to decide the course of action which would be intimated to the PHF.

Wapda official, however, refused to comment on Shahnaz’s statement in

which he had stated he had no intention of talking to Wapda about the controversy.

The official said Sohail and Waseem were not likely to come on or before July 5 as they had a crucial match to play for their club in Germany the same day.
