HYDERABAD, Dec 15: Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party Chairman and Ponam’s Sindh President Dr Qadir Magsi has called upon the United Nations to play its due role to stop Israeli attacks on Palestine and the genocide of Palestinians.

In a communication, addressed to the UN secretary-general, he said it was the duty of the world organization to intervene and prevail upon Israel to end state terrorism against the unarmed and hapless Palestinians.

He said Israel had violated all diplomatic norms and ethics by targeting the residence of Yasar Arafat and the offices of the Palestinian Authority.

Magsi regretted that even women and children had been mercilessly killed, saying that it was really strange that the world community was oblivious to Israel’s state terrorism.

He was of the view that double standards of the world community were encouraging extremism, fanaticism and fundamentalism. The UN was playing a laudable role in encouraging a dialogue between the warring countries and ending poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy and human rights violations, but it had failed to protect the innocent people of Palestine against the barbarism of Israel, he added.

The STPP chief said the Israeli aggression had endangered the Middle East peace process and the world peace.

The Israeli prime minister was intentionally trying to sabotage the efforts of the UN it was making to restore peace in the Middle East, he said and appealed to the UN secretary-general to use his good offices in ending the Israeli aggression.

He called upon the UN to get vacated the Arab territories occupied by Israel. He also demanded that the Palestinians be allowed to set up an independent state.

EXAMINATION: The controller of examinations, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, has announced that the higher secondary certificate part-I and II (class XI- XII) supplementary examination 2001 will be held from Dec 27.
