SWABI, June 28: A man and his young son drowned in the Maira branch canal, while two other people were rescued by the locals when a rickshaw they were travelling in fell into the canal and was washed away on Friday.

The victims, Azeem Khan and his son Mohammad Zeb, were coming to the Gohati bus stop from Bachayi when the ill-fated rickshaw plunged into the canal while trying to save a head-on collision with a Datsun pick-up. They belonged to Rustum village in Mardan.
