BAHAWALNAGAR: Influential landlords allegedly chopped off the nose of a labourer’s daughter over matrimonial dispute in the limits of Sadar police station here on Thursday.

According to police, Jamshed and Nadeem, both residents of Basti Sherwali, along with their five accomplices, stormed the house of a labourer, Bashir.

The suspects subjected Fareeda Bibi, 20, daughter of Bashir, to severe torture and chopped off her nose before fleeing the scene.

Sources close to the victim’s family said Fareeda was punished because her parents had refused the marriage proposal of Jamshed’s son.

They said earlier the accused party had tried to abduct the girl but the bid was foiled by her relatives.

The police have registered a case (No 55/14) under sections 459/324 of the PPC against seven suspects on the victim’s complaint, with no arrest so far.
