ISLAMABAD, June 27: The PPP on Friday claimed that about 20 ruling party parliamentarians would exercise their right of vote in the no-confidence motion against the National Assembly speaker in case of a secret ballot.
Briefing newsmen after the PPP parliamentary party meeting, the deputy parliamentary leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that a number of ruling party members had communicated to him as well as other party leaders that they would like to vote against the speaker because they were not happy with his conduct.
He expressed the apprehension that the government might try to keep the opposition members away from parliament to defeat the motion.
“We will request the presiding officer to allow every member to speak, otherwise the PPP will protest if the opportunity is denied to us,” the leader warned.
