Swat Nazim laid to rest

MINGORA, June 27: Swat Nazim Dr Mehboobur Rehman, who died from cardiac arrest on Thursday evening, was laid to rest here on Friday at his ancestral graveyard in Farhatabad, Khwazakhela.

Provincial Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, chief justice and judges of Peshawar High Court, Upper Dir Nazim Sahibzada Tariqullah, Malakand Nazim Engineer Humayun Khan, elected representatives, government officials and thousands of people attended his funeral.

Dr Mehboobur Rehman was a founding leader of the Pakistan People’s Party and a close friend of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

He remained a federal minister, provincial minister, senator and member of the central executive council of the PPP.

Meanwhile, the district council announced a three-day mourning in recognition of his services.
