HPS bag U-12 title

KARACHI, June 26: Habib Public School (HPS) hockey squad returned on Thursday from Malaysia after winning six- a- side under-12 international hockey tournament in Ipoh.

In the final, HPS under-12 defeated Enderson Junior 2-1. Spearhead Salman Mehdi and Zaheer M.Khan scored one goal each.

Salman Mehdi was named best player of under-12 championship. He scored six goals.24 teams took part in the competition.

Mohsin Zafar, Asfand Ahmed and Sibtain Raza performed well in under-15 competition in which HPS finished third.

Both Pakistan Education Board teams, however, koncked out in the quarterfinals.

Manager of HPS Shabih Abbas said it was for the first time in history of Pakistan that an under-12 side had won an international competition abroad.— APP
