New health services DG posted

Published June 27, 2003

LAHORE, June 26: The Punjab government on Thursday removed Dr Sabiha Khursheed from the office of health services director-general and posted Mayo Hospital principal medical officer Dr Capt Khalid Mahmood in her place.

Dr Sabiha has been posted as the medical superintendent of Ganga Ram Hospital.

Punjab health department officials claimed that the government had removed Dr Khursheed as she did not possess the required qualification and experience.

They also claimed that the health department had not recommended her for the post, and she had “manoeuvred” herself into the DG office on Oct 2 last year.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the health department had moved a summary to the Punjab chief minister for posting Prof Dr Shahbaz Aman as the principal of Fatima Jinnah Medical College.
