KARACHI, June 26: The high commissioner of Kenya has said the media plays an important role in bridging the gap between nations around the world.

“It is the media which informs and educates people about events and peoples of different countries,” said Al-Haj Mohammad Omar Said Soba, high commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to Pakistan, during a visit to Karachi Press Club on Thursday.

Mr Soba asked businessmen and traders to invest in Kenya in the fields of textiles, leather, surgical equipment, sports goods, etc. He said the economy of Kenya was in the hands of Asians and majority of them was Indians.

He asked the businessmen to capture the market of Kenya, for which he had already met traders in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi.

Speaking about the law and order in Kenya, he said that although crimes were committed in Nairobi like other cities of the world, the law and order in Kenya was favourable for investors.

Mr Soba was flanked by Commercial Attache Bramah L. Kaleve and others. KPC President Sabihuddin Ghousi and other members of the governing body were also present on the occasion.
