TIMERGARA, June 25: Girl students in the Upper Dir district have few opportunities of higher education and the only high school for them lacks facilities.
The percentage of women’s literacy in the district is among the lowest in the province.
A school was given the status of higher secondary school in 1999 but the announcement is yet to be implemented.
It is the only school to which students from 12 primary schools of 10 villages of the area come for studies.
The school is short of staff and there is no science teacher or laboratory for the matriculation students.
