ISLAMABAD, June 25: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved an information access project for the University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar.

The project, which will be completed in one year, will cost Rs35 million, said an official statement here on Wednesday.

The project aims at installing most sophisticated information access infrastructure at the university’s main office, departments, hostels, remote campuses and affiliated colleges.

The project would reduce the recurring cost of the university, being spent on mailing, correspondence etc., the statement said.

“In addition to conventional hard link, the wireless connectivity would also be provided within the campus as well as locations far from the campus.”

The scheme would introduce office automation by replacing physical file system with the computer based file system, the statement said.
