KARACHI: Uplift schemes reviewed

KARACHI, June 25: Sindh chief minister, Sardar Ali Mohammed Mahar, on Wednesday met MNAs belonging to the MQM, the PML-Q, the National Alliance, PML-F and the PPP at the chief minister’s house and discussed the development schemes and the political situation in the province.

The chief minister apprised the MNAs about the priorities of the Sindh government and the salient features of the Sindh budget 2003-004.

He said more funds had been provided for the social sector, particularly health, education, agriculture and IT.

He told the MNAs that provincial government was making headway in the cultural and tourism sectors and a number of steps were being taken to provide better recreational facilities to people.

In that regard he referred to the development of Water World at Hawkesbay, Gorakh Hill Station, Keenjhar and Manchar lakes and other spots.

The MNAs thanked the chief minister for exchanging his views with them and apprised him about the problems of their constituencies.

It was decided that the chief minister would hold meetings with the senators and MNAs of Sindh on the first Monday every month.

Present in the meeting were chief secretary Dr Mutawakkal Kazi, MNAs Dr Farooq Sattar, Abdul Ghaffar Jatoi, Syed Sarkaruddin Advocate, Sultan Ahmed Khan, Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi, Kanwar Khalid Yunus, Haji Azizullah Brohi, Israrul Ebad Khan, Mohammed Shamim Siddiqi, Prof Khalid Wahab, Ms Afsar Jehan, Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Jatoi, Qazi Abdul Quddus Rajar and Mrs Khurshid Afghan. Dr Abdul Qadir Khanazada represented Mohammed Abdul Rauf Siddiqi. Later the chief minister hosted a luncheon for the MNAs.—APP
