QUETTA: A joint resolution seeking a permanent solution to the menace of power and gas loadshedding in Balochistan was unanimously passed by the provincial assembly here on Tuesday.

It demanded of the federal government to immediately take steps to end the problem which was badly affecting the consumers.

The session was chaired by Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali.

The joint resolution of Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal, Nawab Ayaz Jogezai, Obaidullah Babat, Nasrullah Zeray and William Barkat, was moved by Mr Zeray which maintained that natural gas was being produced in Balochistan but major parts of the province lacked the facility while people of certain areas, where it was being supplied, had been complaining of low pressure.

Participating in the debate, Mr Ziaratwal, Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, Sardar Mustafa Tareen, Sardar Abdur Rehman Khetran, Yasmin Lehri, Samina Khan and Ghulam Dastagir expressed their resentment over these lingering problems.

They said that power outages had badly affected orchards and crops.

The house also approved the Balochistan Local Government (amended) Bill 2014, tabled by minister for local bodies Sardar Mustafa Tareen. The session was adjourned till Wednesday.
