Empty shells found at US embassy

RAWALPINDI, June 24: The three teargas shells, which were found on the US embassy premises on Monday, have been handed over to the police.

The shells were found in a garden at the embassy by labourers while digging the ground.

“There was nothing serious to investigate as the shells were empty and rusted,” a police officer said.

PRISONER ESCAPES: A handcuffed under-trial prisoner, facing five criminal charges, escaped from police custody while being produced in the court of civil judge, Islamabad, on Tuesday.

Police said Shakil Ahmed alias Kala, a resident of Abbottabad, had been arrested by Bharakau police on charges of theft, brawl and assault.

A case has been registered against three policemen — Abad Ali, Qadeem Shah and Aqueel Zaman — on charges of negligence.

CARJACKING: Three cars were stolen in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday, police said.

A Suzuki Mehran car was stolen from the Commercial Market, Satellite Town, a Suzuki Margalla (IDF-49) from RA Bazaar while a Honda Civic (LHV-1004) was taken away from F-10 Markaz.
