HYDERABAD, June 23: A large number of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz activists observed a token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club here on Monday to protest against the construction of greater Thal canal.

Talking to reporters the party leader Aakash Mallah charged that Punjab was trying to take control of the Indus River which happens to be Sindh’s economic mainstay.

Mr Mallah said Sindhis would wage a relentless war against the monopolization of the Indus waters.

He urged the people to respond to the call of the Jeay Sindh by participating in the protest sit-in, scheduled to be held in Karachi on June 25.

He warned the government that if any attempt was made to sabotage the protest sit-in, the Mahaz activists would raise strong resistance.
