Malir Sports in semifinal

KARACHI, Dec 14: Malir Sports were the last team to make it through to the semifinals of the Fifth Nehal Siddiqui Invitation Ramazan cricket tournament, beating Model CC by eight wickets at the Malir Cricket Stadium.

Model CC put into bat after losing the toss, were skittled out for 125 runs in only 18.3 overs with Noor Azmat (40), Atif Kamal (28) and Habib Sultan (20), contributing to their team’s total score.

Naveed Zameer four for 21, Abdul Hamid three for 20 and Qamar Alam two for 29 bagged the wickets for the fielding side.

Malir Sports reached the victory target of 127 in 18.1 overs, losing only two wickets in the bargin. Nizamuddin blasting an unbeaten knock of 57 runs laced with seven boundaries and one six, Akhtar Kaleem (31) with five spanking fours and Arqam Ansari (20), made victory possible for Malir Sports. M. Shahid picked up two for 26 for the losers.

Saturday’s fixture: Malir Companion v KESC (First semifinal).
