MINGORA, Dec 14: The leaders of the Tehrik Nifaz-i-Shariat-i- Muhammadi (TNSM), Malakand division, have hinted at launching a forceful protest movement after Eid-ul-Fitr for the release of their Amir, Maulana Sufi Muhammad.

Khurshid Babu, Bashir Rehman and Umer Nawab, leaders of the Swat TNSM, said here on Friday the government itself wanted to create a law and order situation in the country as it had not yet released the leaders like Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Maulana Sufi Muhammad.

Talking to the newsmen they said Pakistan came into existence in the name of Islam and the people wished Islamic system to be enforced here, but the rulers did not do so, and had, thus, betrayed the nation.

The government, they said, had arrested the religious leaders in a bid to appease the United States of America, but this policy had adversely affected the cause of Islam. “A Zionist cannot become a friend of a Muslim,” they maintained.

They said: “Any action against the religious schools (Madaris) would be tantamount to a rebellion against the religion on part of the rulers, and the people would never forgive them.”

The pro-America policies of the government, they claimed, would lead the country to an infighting and anarchy.

They bitterly criticized George W. Bush, Tony Blair and Atal Bihari Vajpayee for their inhuman attitude towards Muslims.
