SIALKOT, June 21: National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Ameer Hussain will distribute cheques among heirs of Sialkot dryport blast victims in a ceremony at Sambrial in Daska tehsil on June 23.

As many as 17 people, including a customs inspector, two school students and 14 labourers, were killed and more than 35 injured seriously in the explosion in a large container at Sialkot dryport in Sambrial on Feb 4.

RAIN: Both Sialkot and Narowal districts on Saturday received light rain, which turned the hot and humid weather pleasant.

It remained cloudy throughout the day. People rushed to parks and other picnic spots as winds from Jammu & Kashmir made the weather all the more pleasant.

Farmers also welcomed the rain and termed it conducive to paddy-sowing.

The officials of local met office have forecast heavy rain and lightening in Sialkot and Narowal districts and all the catchment areas of occupied Jammu & Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

UN OBSERVERS: Sialkot-based permanent UN observers visited various Pakistani villages along the Sialkot working boundary to see for themselves the miseries of villagers due to frequent cross-border firing, official sources said.
