ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notices to acting Inspector General (IG) of Frontier Corps (FC) and home secretary Balochistan in the missing persons and Balochistan law and order case.

A three-judge bench of Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani remarked that the FC must ensure recovery of all remaining missing persons and also directed the IG FC to appear before the court on next date of hearing.

Attorney General for Pakistan Munir A. Malik appeared before the court when proceedings begin earlier in the day and requested to detach him from the case saying he remained 'amicus curie' thus he could not appear before the court for the case.

The court accepted his plea and appointed Additional Attorney General (AAG) Shah Khawar for the case.

The bench asked Khawar regarding appointment of the acting IG FC, upon which the AAG apprised the court that a notification for the appointment of Brigadier Khalid Saleem was issued on Wednesday in this regard.

He further stated that another notification for the IG FC’s sick leave has also been issued.

Justice Amir Hani questioned about the appearance of acting IG FC before the court as per the directions of the apex court during the previous hearings.

Shah Khawar informed the court that the acting IG FC was present in the court premises but he could not be ‘intimated’ due to lack of communication.

However, after the court's order, the acting IG FC appeared before the court and stated that he could not appear due to some ‘misunderstanding.’

Brigadier Khalid Saleem then apprised the court that the FC was doing its level best to bring peace in the province as it was fully aware of its duties. He stated that the FC had also traced out several missing persons who would be brought to justice after due course of law.

Later, the court adjourned further hearing of the case till December 26.
