HYDERABAD, Dec 14: The president of Pakistan Medical Association, Sindh, Dr Noor Mohammad Memon, has expressed concern at the artificial shortage of a very important drug Sustac used by the heart patients, with the joint connivance of medical stores and the whole sale drug dealers and the criminal silence of the marketing agency.
In a statement issued here on Friday, he said that this was the third consecutive year that the drug Sustac has been made to disappear during the last 3-4 months and added that the artificial shortage was created every year, though the same drug was made available by medical stores from the whole sale dealers at increased rates e.g. tablet Sustac 2.6 at Rs300 instead of Rs141 and tablet Sustac 6.4 at Rs250 instead of Rs184.
He said that it was a well-known fact that Sustac was very important life saving drug in the treatment of heart patients and its shortage can play havoc with human life.
The Sindh PMA president has demanded of the health department and the manufacturing/importing firm to take serious notice of the artificial shortage of the this life saving drug.
EDUCATION: The inspector of colleges, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, notified here on Friday that the government of Sindh is determined to improve the standard of education at all costs and the BISE of Hyderabad is making all possible efforts in furtherance of this objective.
He said that the Sindh government has made it absolutely clear that no deviation will be tolerated under any circumstances in this regard.
Underlining these instructions, he said that every student of schools and colleges maintained by the government shall have to complete 75 per cent attendance failing which the examination forms will not be forwarded to the board of education concerned and the admission of such students will be cancelled.
The principals and head masters have been directed to send monthly record of attendance of students of their colleges /schools/institutes to the district officer concerned and the registrar university/chairman of board of education concerned in the first week of every month.
In case of appeal in this regard, the committee consisting of registrar of university/chairman of board and district officer concerned may decide the matter and their decision shall be final.
Those teachers who are found irregular and remain absent from their classes/duties and the principals who do not implement the orders of the government regarding absentee teachers and students shall be dealt with under the Removal from Service Ordinance 2000.
On the report of the principal or any inspection officer concerned/committee (constituted by the department) the delinquent employee may be served with a show cause notice with a major penalty, including termination from service.
The principals of the affiliated colleges as well as of schools/higher secondary schools have been requested to ensure that the compliance of the above instructions are made properly.
