Power to council office cut off

KHAIRPUR, June 19: The Hesco authorities disconnected the power supply to the Taluka Council office, Scarp Colony, and streetlights of Khairpur town on Thursday due to non-payment of bills.

In sub-division Gambat, the power supply to the telephone exchange, drainage scheme, water supply, girls school, SDEO primary, high school, buildings, highway departments and streetlights of Gambat were also cut off for non-payment of bills.

Hesco authorities said that the power supply of some more departments would be disconnected due to arrears.

FIFTEEN INJURED: At least 15 people were injured when a Khairpur-bound wagon (PA-0680) hit an electricity pole at the Shaikh Chowk and overturned on Wednesday.

Some of the injured were identified as Manzoor Hussain, Ghulam Mustafa, Nisar Jogi and Bakhtawar Pathan.

All the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital Gambat, where 12 were provided first aid and released. The remaining were admitted.

DEMO: The Memon community held a demonstration outside the press club on Thursday demanding the early arrest of seven accused nominated in an FIR lodged at the Ranipur police station.

The FIR was lodged against Habibullah, Deedar, Sikandar, and Juriyal. The names of the others could not be ascertained.

HOUSE GUTTED: The house of a farmer, Mohammad Suleman, was reduced to ashes in the Keenjhar village, Thari Mirwah Taluka, due to an accidental fire on Wednesday night.
