HYDERABAD, June 19: The DIG, operations, Hyderabad Region, Mushtaq Shah, has directed the district police officer (DPO), operations, Mirpurkhas, to personally conduct an investigation into the double murder case of Mir Faqeer Dal, brother-in-law and maternal nephew of Sohail Sangi of Dawn’s Hyderabad Bureau.

Mr Sangi had submitted an application to the DIG, requesting him to appoint an impartial officer, not below the rank of DSP/ASP for an inquiry, as he expressed no-confidence in the on-going investigation.

The applicant claimed police investigation was going on quite contrary to the statement of the complainant who lodged an FIR (22/03) at the Mirpurkhas Taluka police station.

He feared that if the investigation of the case continued on these lines, it would give undue benefit to the accused, Israr Ahmed Qureshi, at the time of prosecution of the case in the relevant court of law.

The DIG directed the DPO, operations, Mirpurkhas, to call an investigating officer to ensure justice to the complainant.
