ISLAMABAD, June 18: The government alone cannot check the growing cyber attacks especially on the information resources in sensitive organizations unless the private sector extended its help.

This was the gist of the speeches delivered at a one-day seminar on “The need for coordinated efforts to combat banking related cyber crimes and money-laundering in Pakistan” organized by National Response Centre for Cyber Crimes (NR3C) at FIA Headquarters here.

Director General FIA Syed Mohib Asad said the seminar was organized to broaden the vision of business community in general and banking sector in particular to face the new challenges by putting a system in place. He said historically the continuity of Pakistan was directly based on its economic strength, therefore, the FIA with the help of the business community was now putting the things into a system to tackle the problems.

Project Coordinator NR3C Ammar Jaffri said they were conducting the 5th seminar on the subject in less than four months and received growing response from the private sector.

“The ministry of interior and narcotics control has set up a National Response Centre for Cyber Crime in FIA Headquarters as a focal point of contact for all cyber related activities,” he added. He said efforts were under way to set up such centres in all the provinces, and provincial governments were being consulted for this purpose.— PPI
