PESHAWAR, Dec 14: Three different cases have been filed before local accountability courts in connection with Ghazi Barotha land acquisition scandal.

Reference against Land Acquisition Collector Khalid Mahmood and 17 other accused was filed before the accountability court No.1, presided over by Said Maroof Khan. The court has fixed Dec 22 for preliminary hearing.

In the reference Khalid Mahmood and other accused are charged of inflicting a loss of Rs365.2 million to the national exchequer by acquiring land at exorbitant rates.

In the second reference, filed before accountability court No.4 of Miftauddin Khan, another Land Acquisition Collector Muhammad Ali

Shah and 22 others are charged causing Rs386.344 million loss to the exchequer. The court fixed Jan 2 for next hearing.

The third reference was also filed against Muhammad Ali Shah and 11 co-accused.

That reference is regarding purchase of land in Barotha village. The court No.3 of Syed Yahya Zahid Gillani will hear it on Jan 4.
