LAHORE, June 17: Seven women who have been sacked from the national cricket training camp have alleged that their expulsion was due to the biased attitude of the camp management.

The camp is in progress under the supervision of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at the Gaddafi Stadium to pick and prepare Pakistan team for the next month IWCC qualifying round to be held in Holland.

The seven, who later called a press conference on Tuesday were refused permission to hold it by the hotel management.

When reporters reached the hotel, the management informed the players that the press conference would not be allowed.

When pressed by reporters as to the reason the hotel manager admitted that he was being pressurized by a PCB official.

However, the players handed over their written statements to the reporters, alleging that the management ousted them not due to their performance but to include girls from another region.

Rehana Nazli, one of the sacked players, further alleged that she was pressurized by a PCB official not to go ahead with the press conference.

Camp commandant told Dawn that he was reducing the number of trainees after assessing that they were not talented enough for international cricket.

He said that the number of probables had been reduced to 30 from 44.

He refuted the allegations of the seven women claiming that that they were ousted after giving them adequate time.

He further denied that more girls were being inducted in the camp in place of the sacked girls.

He clarified that only one girl, Farzana from Kasur district would be inducted as she  was a talentented.

Besides Rehana Nazli, the other sacked players are Qudsia Khatoon, Aasma Mukhtar, Aneela Javed, Fauzia Shaheen, Kaneez Fatima and Shaharbano.
