DERA GHAZI KHAN, June 16: Truck drivers kept the inter-provincial Dera-Quetta road blocked for 15 hours on Monday to protest against the killing of a fellow by robbers.

Five robbers were intercepting vehicles on Dera-Quetta road on Sunday night and depriving the drivers of their cash.

Driver Yaseen was stabbed and injured on putting resistance while Muhammad Ashfaq was shot dead by robbers when he attempted to drive away his truck. Later, the robbers escaped on foot.

The truck drivers put the body of Yaseen in the middle of Dera-Quetta road, blocking traffic coming from the Punjab and Balochistan.

The postmortem on the body was conducted on the road in the presence of dozens of drivers.

The drivers ended the blockade after 15 hours on the assurance of law enforcement authorities that compensation money would be paid to Yaseen’s family.
