HYDERABAD, June 16: Members of the district council and Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors of different union councils of the district resumed their token hunger strike outside the press club here on Monday.

They are protesting against delay in the release of Rs226 million Annual Development Programme funds of the district.

The protesters severely criticised the role of bureaucracy and pledged to continue the protest till the release of the funds and work orders for development schemes.

They also announced to support the call of the Anti-Greater Thal Canal Action Committee to observe a token hunger strike on the bed of the River Indus on Tuesday (today).

PML(N): The acting president, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Imdad Hussain Chandio, who is also a member of the anti-Thal canal steering committee, has appealed to PML activists of labour, youth and women wings and the Muslim Students Federation to come out on the roads to protest against the Thal canal. In a joint statement issued here on Sunday, they asked PML workers to observe hunger strikes at the district, city and Tehsil level throughout the province on June 17.
