LAHORE, Oct 11: The Human Rights Society of Pakistan has expressed concern over the civilian casualties caused by the persistent bombing by the US forces in Afghanistan.
Taking note of the statement of the US president and the secretary of state that the war in Afghanistan can be a prolonged event and that it can extend to some other countries, the society on Thursday adopted a resolution condemning the death of civilians, including employees of the UN humanitarian organization.
The resolution said the prolonged or extension of war would not in any way help in controlling terrorism.
On the contrary, it would create a sense of injustice and lead to the loss of many freedoms both in the free and the third world, and that it had the germs of clash of civilizations.
It said no war had ever helped improve the environment of human rights.
