Pavey creates new 3000m record

LILLE (France), June 15: Britain’s Joanne Pavey set a women’s 3000m season’s best time in 8:41.89 at the Lille international athletics meeting on Sunday.

France’s Manuela Montebrun also set a season’s best in the hammer, with a 74.50m throw that set a new national record.

Svetlana Feofanova of Russia failed in her attempt to vault 4.82m and beat the world record of 4.81m held by Olympic and World champion Stacy Dragila of the US. She jumped 4.72m to win the event.—Reuters
