ISLAMABAD, June 15: The government has not granted permission to any overseas employment promoter for sending job-seekers to Malaysia, officials in the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment told Dawn.

Certain elements have reportedly been recruiting workers for employment in Malaysia promising them high wages. The job- seekers have been asked to get information about the employment promoters from the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment and the offices of the Protectors of Emigrants located in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta. Only these offices are authorized to grant permission to the agents.

The government is likely to sign a memorandum of understanding with Malaysia for recruitment of Pakistani workers, after which a policy for recruitment to the country would be announced, the officials added.
