Kashmir division opposed

LAHORE, June 15: The JUP (Nifaz-i-Shariat) has advised President Gen Pervez Musharraf neither to recognize Israel nor accept division of Kashmir formula during his forthcoming visit to the US.

Speaking at a news conference here on Sunday, party chief Engineer Saleemullah Khan said that Pakistan would face the same situation as was being faced by Egypt and Yasser Arafat after recognizing Israel at Camp David and Oslo, respectively.

He regretted that Islamabad could not bring New Delhi to the negotiation table despite giving in to US pressure on division of Kashmir.

He was also critical of finance minister Shaukat Aziz’s visit to the Kahuta Research Laboratories. He wondered how a minister was allowed to visit the sensitive site when two former prime ministers had been disallowed.—Correspondent
