PESHAWAR, June 14: Professional Squash Association (PSA) has registered top four Pakistani squash players British squash junior champion Safeer Khan, current Asian champion Farhan Mehboob, Naveed and Khalid.

This was stated by Wing Commander Pervez Saeed Mir here Saturday.

“It is an honour and proud for the PAF Squash Academy Peshawar whose players proved their metal in short span of two- year time,” he added. The Academy was established by the PAF Sports Control Board on May 18, 2001 whose trainees are currently holding the titles of U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19.

He said, it is academy’s great achievement during the last 10-year as after Jansher Khan’s retirement, no Pakistani was in top 30th world ranking.

Pervez Saeed Mir said, a girl squash player from Bannu Maria Gul and 21 other boys are currently under training at the academy.

He said, in the last two year time the boys of this academy showed tremendous form at national and international level. He said, recently four of the academy players recorded victories in national juniors open in various categories.

PSF official said excellent performances by the players indicated efforts of the academy being made for the promotion of squash in the country.

He hoped that the newly inducted players in the academy, will show their skills and would achieve more laurels for the country in future.

The name of the players who are currently under training for one year term are:

Under-19: Safeer Gul, Khalid Atlas, Faisal Zaman, Maqbali Khan.

Under-17: Farhan Mehboob, Bilal Zaman, Majeed Hussain Khan, Adil Atlas.

Under-15: Aamir Atlas, Alamzeb Khan, Asim Shehzad, Shehzad Khan.

Under-13: Waqar Mehboob, Danish Atlas, Asif Khan, Farhan Zaman besides a female player Maria Gul was also selected in the same category.

Under-9: Nasir Iqbal, Niamat Ullah Senior, Arbab Dilawar, Bilal Zakir.—APP
