KARACHI, June 12: Two persons, including an activist of a defunct religious organization, were shot dead on Thursday night while another man was injured in various areas of the megapolis.

An activist of a banned religious group, Sipah-i-Sihaba Pakistan, was shot dead by some unidentified persons in New Karachi on Thursday morning.

Police said that Saadat Ali, 29, along with his brother Sadaqat Ali were going on their motorcycle (KCJ-8361) when they were intercepted by unidentified motorcyclists in New Karachi’s sector 5-L.

Police said that the deceased, currently working as a salesman in a distribution company, had been trained in Afghanistan and had been picked up by the police in Feb 2000.

The victim’s brother, Sadaqat, lodged an FIR against unknown persons, police added.

Meanwhile, Syed Mohabat Khan Naqvi, 55, was shot dead by two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle in Nazimabad No4 late Thursday night. Mr Naqvi, a retired engineer, was later rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
