KARACHI, June 10: Federal and provincial governments are taking a keen interest in the development projects in Sindh.

This was said by provincial advisor for special projects, Mumtaz Hameed, during a visit to the Lyari Expressway settlement project here on Tuesday.

He said that no delay in the execution of the project would be tolerated, and officials would be made accountable in case of any delay.

He also under took a detailed tour of the new colony established in Hawkesbay and expressed satisfaction over the provision of basic amenities. Referring to the settlement plan, the advisor said the new settlement was “perfect’’.

Earlier, project director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, in a briefing, informed the advisor that all the basic amenities were being provided to the settlers and the offices of the KBCA and Zakat-o-Usher and social welfare departments had also been established.

He said a transparent method had been adopted for payment of compensation money in cash and each affected family was being given a plot of 80 yards and Rs50,000 as compensation. He added that so far about 1800 families had been shifted and several committees comprising community development workers were helping them.—APP/PPI
