ISLAMABAD, June 9: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has condemned the action taken against the lawyers in the capital on Monday, whereby they were restrained from holding a convention on the Supreme Court premises.

“Forcibly stopping the lawyers from entering the Supreme Court is unprecedented and shows the complete breakdown of sanity in the government circles who are desperate to crush any opposition against one-man rule in the country,” Mr Khan said.

He said the nation and its future is being held hostage by one man who is desperate to cling on to power by hook or by crook. The PTI, he added, supported the lawyers who were in the forefront of a historic struggle to restore rule of law in the country.

“The struggle is against one man who is once again desperate to misuse the doctrine of ‘Supreme National Interest’ just to perpetuate his rule by 140 million people whose rights can only be protected if institutions and not individuals reign supreme,” the PTI chief said.
