Water shortage

Published June 10, 2003

GUJRAT, June 9: Residents of Islam Nagar locality have been facing the drinking water shortage for the last two months due to the indifferent attitude of officials of the Gujrat Tehsil Municipal Administration.

They alleged that the bore of the TMA turbine had stopped sucking the water as the underground water level had dropped considerably.

A local politician, Hanif Haideri, had taken personal interest in resolving the matter and the TMA had dug up another bore in the locality. But, they alleged, that the TMA authorities had become a hindrance in the way of the new electricity connection of the newly-bored turbine.

They alleged that the TMA authorities at the behest of some other local politicians were not agreed to install the power connection. They demanded that the higher authorities concerned should take stock of the situation. — Correspondent
