PESHAWAR, Dec 13: Local and Afghan businessmen, whose goods had been stopped at Peshawar dry port because of the unilateral restrictions imposed   by Islamabad on the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) operations following   the Taliban’s debacle, are, reluctant to get their consignments cleared, in spite of the fact that they have been offered normal official rates by Peshawar customs authorities.

However, traders in Peshawar expressed their ignorance of the recent offer but confirmed that in the past some ATT consignments had been cleared by the collectorate at the condition of normal official rates.

Senior official sources said that the traders could get their goods cleared by paying the rates but they were reluctant to do so because majority of the goods belonged to Afghan traders and would not be profitable for them.
