ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Friday appreciated the role of law enforcement agencies for their untiring efforts to maintain peace and ensure security during Muharram processions.

In a statement issued here, Nisar expressed satisfaction over the peaceful culmination of Ashura processions throughout the country.

He lauded the role of all the federal and provincial agencies including the armed forces, Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC) and police personnel for their hard work. He said their performance had proved that determination and courage could help improve the situation of the country and run affairs in a better manner.

The interior minister said timely action of law enforcement agencies in Islamabad, Karachi, Kot Adu (Punjab), Chaman (Balochistan) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had saved the country from any unfortunate incidents.

He said if the nation, religious scholars, media and law enforcement agencies continued showing the same unity, the government would soon be able to safeguard lives and property of people.

Nisar also regretted the inconvenience caused to the people due to the suspension of mobile services during the Muharram processions and gatherings.
